Think about ordering yourself something you’ve always wanted from Amazon.com. You place the order and impatiently wait for the delivery notice; When it comes, you track the shipment like a hound dog. Finally, it arrives at your door; that telltale box with a smile is yours and ready to be opened. The smell of cardboard and packing materials fills your nostrils as you cut through the only thing keeping you from your new purchase: the tape. Finally, your treasure is free and all yours! It may be hard to believe, but at the Clinton Dental Center, that’s the exact feeling we get when a new piece of technology comes in. Sure, it’s easy for us to be psyched about dental technology, but we think you should be excited too, especially about our iCat 3D Scanner!
What It Does
The iCat provides radiographic (x-ray) images, only in three dimensions. It allows us to see far more than just your teeth; we can see your jaw joints, socket depth, nerves, soft tissues, sinuses and upper airways.
A major component of what we do here at Clinton Dental Center is treating patients with obstructed upper airways, conditions such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. iCat 3D “before and after” images of the patient’s airways help us confirm the success of the treatment. This technology simply eliminates the guesswork out of the process.
3D images of the jaw joints are paramount in treating patients with undiagnosed craniofacial pain such as headaches, jaw, neck, and shoulder pain.
The Benefits
Everything we do is for our patients, including the technology we use. While you may not be excited about the idea of nerve pathways or sinus cavities, here are a few reasons you should love the iCat:
- It provides us with a better quality image than traditional x-rays. This means fewer scans are required.
- It exposes you to less radiation than other radiography equipment. In fact, no radiation remains in the body after a scan.
- A single scan can provide any view we need, which allows us to provide more precise treatment.
- It helps us perform treatments in less time and with greater accuracy, which allows you to get back to living your life.
We could go on and on, but don’t take our word for it: contact us to schedule an appointment and find out for yourself! We proudly serve patients in Chesterfield, Michigan, and the surrounding communities. We can’t wait to hear from you!
