You’re getting ready for a night out with friends. You’re wearing your snazziest outfit, your hair is perfectly coiffed, and your skin is luminous. You’re feeling pretty great about the way you look and are eagerly anticipating an evening with some of your favorite people, but before you head out, you decide to check the mirror one more time. You face your reflection and give your biggest smile then feel completely deflated. You’re going to have to work all night to hide those dental imperfections that make you feel so self-conscious; your hand will always be busy covering your mouth when you laugh or speak and your smile will always be hidden behind a closed mouth. Now the night doesn’t seem so exciting, after all.
This situation isn’t unique to you. In fact, lots of people struggle with insecurities about their teeth. The good news is that, at The Clinton Dental Center, we have the perfect solution: veneers!
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are ultra-thin porcelain shells that are customized to fit over the front surface of your teeth. The porcelain used to make veneers mimics the translucent properties of natural teeth, are stain-resistant, can be made to match the color of the rest of your smile (or brighter, if you wish), and can fix a number of imperfections, including:
- Chipped teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Misalignments
- Teeth that have been worn down by grinding or clenching
- Teeth that are too rounded or too squared
- Teeth that don’t respond well to professional whitening
The Process
Once we know you’re a candidate for veneers, we’ll set up two appointments for your treatment. At the first appointment, we will gently remove a thin layer of tooth enamel to prepare your teeth for veneers. Once the teeth have been prepared, we will take an impression that will be used to create your veneers. At your second appointment, we will permanently bond the veneers to your teeth and ensure that they look, feel, and function as they should. After that, you get to go out into the world and share your smile with everyone.
Veneers are a conservative and non-invasive way to correct the things about your smile that make you crazy. They are easy to maintain, as you care for them in the same way you do your natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and visit your dentist every six months for a professional cleaning and examination. If you adhere to these routines with fidelity, your veneers will last for years to come.
