Nothing says love like a happy couple sweetly smiling at one another. If your teeth are dull and discolored though, you may not be keen on smiling with your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day. There’s an easy solution to the problem though – teeth whitening. You still have time to brighten up your smile before February 14th and surprise your date with a new look you can be confident about. Here’s an overview of some of the teeth whitening options available to you.
At-Home Teeth Whitening Kits
There are two different kinds of at-home teeth whitening kits you can invest in. You can purchase whitening strips from most major drugstores, or you can buy a whitening kit from your dentist. Over the counter options like Crest White Strips will in fact whiten your teeth, but they aren’t quite as powerful as the products you can get from your dentist. If you want big results in a short period of time, you’re better off investing in a whitening pin or at-home whitening trays from a cosmetic dentist near you.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening from a cosmetic dentist will make your smile even whiter than at-home kits will. Different dentists use different methods to whiten teeth. Here at Clinton Dental Center, we use a program called Zoom to instantly whiten teeth in-office. Zoom whitening involves a tray filled with a special gel that reacts with a light we shine on your smile. The gel goes to work safely bleaching your teeth, and you leave the office with a set of pearly whites to show off on your date.
Note that you may experience some sensitivity for a couple days after the whitening treatment. Schedule your appointment a few days in advance so you can fully enjoy dinner with your significant other.
Whitening Toothpaste And Mouthwash
On the most basic level of teeth whitening, you can invest in whitening toothpaste and mouthwash to use in your daily oral hygiene routine. This may not provide the dramatic results you’re looking for, but it will keep your smile looking its brightest for the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. Avoid soda, coffee, wine, and other drinks that may stain your teeth, and brush and floss at least twice a day. With the right care at the right time, you can make sure that your smile looks amazing for the big date!
