With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, you probably have love on the brain. Isn’t it about time that you share some of that love with your smile? Think about all the hard work it puts in for you – constantly chewing, talking, and lighting up your family photos. With these oral hygiene tips, you can give your teeth the love they deserve this Valentine’s Day.
Avoid Drinks That Stain Your Teeth
Dark drinks like red wine, coffee, soda, and grape juice all have the potential to stain your teeth. If you want your smile to look as white as possible on Valentine’s Day, stick with drinking water throughout the day. Many of these drinks also contain acidic properties that will erode your teeth enamel. This will make your smile even more susceptible to staining, and it could lead to tooth sensitivity. With a simple adjustment to your diet, you can make a tremendous improvement in your smile’s appearance.
Don’t Forget To Brush Your Tongue
When you brush your teeth in the morning and at night, don’t forget to brush your tongue as well. A lot of bacteria can grow on your tongue, causing bad breath and a not-so-pleasant ending to your date night. Go over your tongue with a toothbrush just like you would your teeth, and you will keep your mouth as clean as possible. Once you get used to doing this, it will become part of your oral hygiene routine.
Don’t Brush Too Hard Or Too Often
It is possible to brush your teeth too much. Doing this will eventually wear down your enamel and weaken your teeth as a whole. We recommend brushing two to three times a day to clean your teeth without damaging your enamel. During these moments, make sure not to put too much pressure on your teeth or gums. You should be able to use soft circles to get rid of food and bacteria in your mouth. If you are having a hard time in a specific area, rinse your mouth with water to help loosen the food particle.
